Birth photography moment captured with discretion in a hospital setting

Capture the wonder of birth

Birth photography is quiet, respectful storytelling for the day your family changes. Kelly documents it with discretion — and the planning it deserves long before labour begins.

Photography is a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone

What makes it different

Intimacy, planning and preparation

Birth photography sits apart from maternity, newborn and family portraits. You are not dressing for a session or meeting at a studio — you are inviting someone into one of the most private days of your life.

That requires trust, clarity and time to plan. Kelly works quietly and respectfully, documenting the strength, connection and detail of your birth story without directing the room.

Long before the day itself, there is much to think through — often more than with any other portrait session:

  • Your hospital, obstetrician and care team
  • Your birth plan and what you want remembered
  • Partner, siblings and the people in the room with you
  • Support professionals such as doulas and midwives
  • How photography fits into an intimate, unfolding day

In Melbourne hospitals

With you from the beginning… until the end

Kelly has photographed hundreds of births across Melbourne. She knows the rhythm of hospital rooms, the language of midwives and obstetricians, and how to move without disrupting the people who matter most.

Having photographed hundreds of births, she has worked in all major Melbourne maternity hospitals, both private and public, and has a fantastic relationship with a huge number of obstetricians — we have probably worked with yours already.

A calm, obligation-free consultation gives you space to ask questions, talk through your birth plan and decide whether birth photography feels right for your family. There is no pressure to book on the call.

Kelly accepts a small number of birth clients each month so she can be fully present when labour begins. Enquiring early helps secure your place.

The full journey

Birth Journey photography

Many families choose to photograph more than the birth itself — combining maternity, birth and newborn portraits into one considered story.

Early moments after birth — mother and newborn together

Maternity portraits mark the season before. Birth photography holds the day your family changes. Newborn portraits capture those first quiet weeks at home. Together, they become a complete record of this chapter — not three separate bookings stitched together later.
